4 Wardrobe Musts for the Working Woman

I have mentioned it before but I will say it again- dressing for work is a real struggle. Unless you have an unlimited budget, you will quickly run through all of the possible outfits in your closet. While it depends on what kind of office you work in (i.e. what your dress code is), there are four staples that I think every working woman should own.

1. A tailored pair of black pants. This is the most important item by far. And, surprisingly, one of the cheapest items on my list. A well tailored pair of black pants can make any outfit. Moreover, if you change the top and accessories, you can wear them almost every day. My favorite pair I own (pictured here) are from Zara and were less than $50. I got them tailored so that they end right above my ankle (I do this for every pant I own). Aritzia also make nice pants (but more expensive).

2. A black work heel. Okay, I lied- black work heels (plural). I think it's important to have a good pump, sandal and boot. My favorite pump is Manolo Blahnik, my favorite sandal is the Club Monaco one I am wearing in this post and my favorite black boot is from Zara.
While other colors are nice to switch it up, a black pair will go with everything.

3. Formal jacket. A good jacket is necessary to spice up an outfit. I love a good trench coat. While I wish I could wear a moto jacket every day, it is simply not dressy enough for work. My favorite jackets are from Forever 21 (I bought this one there), Nasty Gal and Zara.

4. A good work purse. This one is obvious, I know. I normally wear my black Celine purse since my laptop fits in it perfectly. I have a smaller, more structured, purse from Zara that I will wear if I don't need to carry my computer with me. I will say that if you are going to splurge on anything, I suggest investing in a good purse.

  1. If I looked like you, I would wear exactly what you are.
